Fresno Writers Live at Rogue Festival

U.S. Poet Laureate Emeritus Juan Felipe Herrera says that Fresno is the "Capital of Poetry in the World." The Fresno State Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing takes that literary legacy seriously. As part of Fresno's annual Rogue Festival, hear the latest poetry and prose from emerging #FresnoWriters in this storytelling and spoken word show, featuring voices from the San Joaquin Literary Association.

sami h. tripp is a queer hyphenate who is constantly in awe of the ways science and magic braid together. Influenced by their mixed identities, they are working and writing towards reconnection with ancestors past and present. They are privileged to be learning, creating, and communing with Yokuts land, and their poetry can be found in Bramble Lit Mag, Blue Heron Review, and Saints and Sinners: New Poetry from the Festival 2023 anthology.

James T. Morrison is a first-year MFA student whose personal narratives examine substance use and mental health disorders, and how those issues intersect with the justice system and societal stigma. He also writes about skate culture, his three impeccably trained circus cats, and other stuff. He lives in Fresno with his wife, Sara, and said felines.

Yamille Moss is a first-year MFA fiction student, specializing in literary editing and publishing. They write high fantasy, speculative fiction, and occasionally poetry.

Mialise Carney is a writer and MFA candidate in creative writing at Fresno State. She is the senior fiction editor at The Normal School and her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in swamp pink, Booth, and Barren Magazine.
