Fresno Writers Live at Rogue Festival

U.S. Poet Laureate Emeritus Juan Felipe Herrera says that Fresno is the "Capital of Poetry in the World." The Fresno State Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing takes that literary legacy seriously. As part of Fresno's annual Rogue Festival, hear the latest poetry and prose from emerging #FresnoWriters in this storytelling and spoken word show, featuring voices from the Chicanx Writers and Artists Association.

Cristina Sandoval (she/her) is a proud Chicana, and a Fresno transplant originally from Modesto, CA. She is currently in the last semester of pursuing her MFA in poetry at Fresno State. She works as the editorial assistant and social media coordinator for The Normal School magazine. Her work has been featured in Penumbra, Artifact Noveau, Dystopian Dance Party, Exist(ir), and The Talon Review. You can find her two books of poetry, Moon Ride and We Need Bad Bitches, on Amazon. Juan Huerta is a queer Chicane writer who is currently in the second year of their MFA program at Fresno State, where they teach first-year writing. They are a reader for The Normal School magazine and the Philip Levine Prize. They are the Vice President for the Chicanx Writers and Artist Association (CWAA) at Fresno State and assist in CWAA’s literary publication Flies, Cockroaches and Poets.

Leslie Kay Quintana (lkq) is a writer from Fresno, California. She is currently a third-year undergraduate at Fresno State, majoring in Creative Writing. Her writing is centered around themes of nature, love, and the many doubts that follow us as individuals. Her poems have been previously published in hais: a literary journal and Flies, Cockroaches and Poets.

Faith McKesson is a Fresno native and is in her last semester as a Senior majoring in English Literature at Fresno State. She has been featured in the Flies, Cockroaches and Poets literary journal and plans on pursing creative writing after she graduates. When she’s not writing, she’s hanging out with her friends and family or nestled on the couch with her three dogs.
