Caleigh Camara is an MFA candidate in fiction with an emphasis in publishing and editing, as well as this year’s Larry Levis Scholar. She grew up in Hanford, CA among a family of readers, with a librarian grandma who fostered her love for reading through summer trips to the county library. Caleigh loves fantasy, and can’t keep a story short if she tried. Her thesis novel centers around the fraying friendship between two young women in a consumerist and performance-driven society, and how they contend with feelings of inadequacy and loss—with a little magic thrown in on the side.

Sadie Gleason is an artist, writer, and cat lover born and raised in Fresno. An MFA candidate in fiction, she uses animal characters as a way to explore complex social dynamics and issues which are, at their core, very human. She grew up with a lot of pets and was always fascinated by their behavior; now, as a multimedia storyteller, she likes to imagine why they act the way they do and reflect on what they can teach us about ourselves.

Beto Huerta is a queer chicane whose work explores the intersectionality of their identity. They also teach first-year writing and facilitate creative writing workshops at Fresno State. They are the Senior Fiction Editor for The Normal School, and have previously read for the Philip Levine Prize. They have been published in Chaotic Merge Magazine, Flies, Cockroaches and Poets, and Kaleidoscope. Their writing is a campy expression of what writing can be for the queer writer of color, and aims to be literary through its anti-literary tactics.

All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear a mask when indoors. Visit Covid.FresnoState.edu for current campus health updates.
