SJVWP Mini-Summer Institute
This one-week institute is an introduction to the National Writing Project culture of teachers teaching teachers. Participants will review the CCCSS for writing and recent research related to writing instruction, dig deep into genres, explore ways to build writing fluency in the classroom, write extensively, and provide helpful feedback on each other’s writing in small response groups.
This 30-hour workshop is open to teachers and administrators from all disciplines in elementary, secondary and post-secodary institutions. Applicants should have an interest in reflecting on their teaching practice and developing their expertise in the teaching of writing.
Participants:
All educators in grades Pre-K-adult, including administrators and teachers of writing in the content areas, special educators, English language and bilingual educators.
Dates and Times:
Summer Institute: Monday, July 26 - Friday, July 30, 2021 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Follow-up sessions: Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 (2 days)
Institute Location: All sessions will be held virtually through Zoom.
