Russia's War of Aggression and Genocide of the Ukrainians: Two Years On
The Department of History at California State University, Fresno would like to invite you to a teach-in webinar “Russia's War of Aggression and Genocide of the Ukrainians: Two Years On.”
Two years ago, on February 24, 2022, Russia launched a military strike against Ukraine. Thirty years ago, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States provided security guarantees when Ukraine agreed to sign the Budapest Memorandum and gave Russia all of its long-range projectiles and
planes that carried their payloads as well, some of which Moscow is using against peaceful men, women, and children in the country it unjustifiably invaded ten years ago, in 2014. The webinar is aimed to remind
the world of those actions and of wavering inaction on those security guarantees by signatories of the memorandum.
Expert panelists will discuss the Russian neo-imperial genocidal war against the Ukrainians in light of the international law, the uses of rape as a weapon of war by the Russian military in Ukraine, the deportations of Ukrainian children to Russia as an act of genocide, and atrocity prevention tools from research, policy, and law.
